SANTO ANDRÉ CHURCH
Church forming part of the former Santo André convent, where the famous queijadas da Vila were invented.
It is part of the former 16th century convent of Santo André (partially destroyed after the extinction of the religious orders in 1832, the palace and the church are still standing). It is here that the famous queijadas da Vila were invented. Baroque and neoclassical styles are mixed. When King Dom Pedro IV decided to dissolve the religious orders in 1832, the Poor Clares had to close shop, and today only part of the church and the visiting room remain. A passage can still be interesting if you are in Vila Franca do Campo.
