NOSSA SENHORA DA VITÓRIA CONVENT AND CHURCH
A convent housing various public bodies, with a pretty cloister planted with palms and cacti in Vila Do Porto.
Built in 1607, it was destroyed by the pirates nine years later, then rebuilt in 1725 and last modified in 1822. Once the residence of the Franciscans, it now houses various public bodies. The chapels of Ordem Terceira and Senhor do Sepulcro have beautiful carved and gilded wooden altarpieces, and the chapel of Almas a beautiful collection of 17th century azulejos. The pretty cloister is planted with palm trees and cacti.
