Partially destroyed by fire in 1921, the church, founded in 1521, curiously features two choirs, symbolizing the insoluble discord between two orders, those of Santo Christo and Misericórdia. So as not to upset anyone, everything was built in duplicate! And it's for this very reason that the church bears two names!
