Horta, one of the world's greatest sailing ports of call, is almost a must on any crossing between Europe and America. It celebrates its anniversary in August. It's the occasion for a multitude of festivities, including concerts, gastronomic stalls, large tables set up along the harbour, sailing races and outings. It's undoubtedly the most exciting time of the year in the Azores. It's best to book a little in advance if you want to stay in Horta at this time, which can be well worth it!
