CASA MANUAL DE ARRIAGA
House museum with permanent exhibition, temporary exhibition room and library in Horta.
On August 24, 1911, Manuel de Arriaga, an Azorean born in Horta, was elected the first President of the Portuguese Republic. A noble figure of the regime, he now rests in the National Pantheon in Lisbon. His home, rehabilitated as a house museum, includes a permanent exhibition, a temporary exhibition room and a library; if you didn't know this illustrious person until now, you will know him much better after your visit. The Casa Manuel de Arriaga, in addition to preserving his memory, projects the substance of his republican values.
