HORTA MUSEUM
A museum where you can discover the history of the town of Horta through a wide range of collections and objects.
In the setting of a former Jesuit convent from the 17th century, the museum introduces us to the history of the city through a heterogeneous set of collections and objects: photos, maritime maps, antique furniture, a diving suit, a sedan chair and the submarine cable stations that were used between the 19th and 20th centuries when Horta was the center of communications in the North Atlantic. The museum also presents a unique collection of models of buildings and ships, made by Euclides Rosa in fig tree pith.
