Situated at an altitude of 1,230 metres, the Maison de la Montagne is the starting point for anyone wishing to climb Mount Pico. It provides logistical support and acts as a control point to limit access to this protected area. The center also provides information on the geology, biology, history, climate and legal framework of the Mount Pico nature reserve. Of particular note: the center has a bar offering an incredible panoramic view of the west coast of Pico and the island of Faial. Ideal at sunset.
