A museum dedicated to the whalers of Lajes Do Pico to understand how they lived and worked.

Dedicated to whalers, this museum, housed in the former Casa dos Botes, is not just a nostalgic mausoleum for a bygone era: it provides an insight into how whalers lived and worked, and what their tools were used for, from harpoons to whaleboats, binoculars to ropes. We discover a way of life as much as a profession, without mythology or sentimentality. A documentary film on the whalers is shown every 30 minutes, alternately in Portuguese and English. Bloody for the whale, but edifying (sensitive souls, brace yourselves!).
