POCO DO BACALHAU
A charming footpath leads past the old mills at Faja Grande.
Over 90 m high, the Ribeira das Casas ends its course here, tumbling down the mountain in an impressive waterfall. Abundant during the rainy season, it is reduced to a thick, heavy fog in summer. Its waters fall into a lagoon surrounded by endemic vegetation, which serves as a bathing area. Access to the lagoon is via a charming pathway that runs alongside old mills once powered by the waterfall. The most imposing of these has been converted into a gîte.
