FACE AU PÉROU
Machu Picchu is one of Peru's most impressive tourist sites. Built by the Inca Empire in the 15th century, it was abandoned for hundreds of years before being rediscovered and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 2,430 metres, Machu Picchu offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Visitors can explore the ruins of temples, palaces and houses, and admire the engineering prowess of the Incas. To visit Machu Picchu, it's advisable to book your ticket in advance, as places are limited. The site can be reached from the city of Cusco, by taking the Machu Picchu train, or from the Ollantaytambo station. Once in the town of Aguas Calientes, shuttle buses take you to the site entrance. You should allow at least two days to fully explore Machu Picchu and its various sites, such as the citadel, the Inca bridge, the Temple of the Sun and the Royal Tomb. A visit to Machu Picchu is an unforgettable experience not to be missed on a trip to Peru.
