IGLESIA DE LAS NAZARENAS
From this modest eighteenth-century church, the procession of the Señor de los Milagros leaves every year on October 18, as a prelude to the Feria de Toros, the most popular and authentic festival in Lima. The work of an Angolan artist, this lord, also called Cristo Moreno (Black Christ), was painted on a wall that remained standing after an earthquake. He has been venerated ever since. The visit is worthwhile for the folklore during the month of October, traditionally called Mes Morado. Next to the church there is a museum where you can learn more about this unique Christ.
