The museum is housed in a Republican casona that went unnoticed until a team of archaeologists discovered the remains of some of the oldest buildings and alleyways in the historic center. Since then, the casona has been finely restored. A small collection of archeological objects from the colonial and republican periods found here is on display. At the far end, a superb open-air space showcases the house's past life and uses.
