ALAMEDA DE LOS DESCALZOS
This paved "barefoot promenade" dates from 1616. It is shaded by century-old trees and surrounded by a 900-metre-long wrought-iron fence. It is guarded by twelve marble sculptures, imported from Italy, representing the signs of the zodiac. In the background, under the hill, is the Convent of Los Descalzos. Two churches, del Patrocinio, from 1688, and Santa Liberata, from 1713, frame the alley. Cross the puente Trujillo and then walk up the Jirón Trujillo and Chiclayo. Restored, it is elegant but in a dangerous area. Be careful.
