HUACA MATEO SALADO
With its five grandiose huacas built by the Ychma culture, it is the largest archaeological centre in the area. It is located between the avenidas Tingo María (Breña) and Mariano Cornejo (Pueblo Libre), and owes its name to the Frenchman Matheus Saladé (1528-1573). The Lutheran found refuge in this place of worship where he made sure he was forgotten. He was caught by the Holy Inquisition and burned at the stake in November 1573, in the Plaza Mayor of Lima. Still very little visited, but interesting, because embedded in the heart of modernity.
