The municipality of Lima has installed the Ignacio Merino Pinacoteca in the Manrique Hospice, a renovated building located in the "Plaza Francia" (where the French Embassy used to be). The rooms are small, but well-lit, and their walls painted in different colors differentiate periods and styles of the collection. Merino is a painter of the late 18th century. Jules Verne's novel "Martín Paz" is set in Peru and is inspired by his drawings and watercolours.
