The Afro-Peruvian community pays homage to the Virgen del Carmen, who is also known as "Peoncita". In the small village of El Carmen where an important part of the Afro-Peruvian artistic community is concentrated, birthplace of the famous Balumbrosio family, it is the occasion to share traditional rites and rhythms to the sound of the cajon and the zapateo, a kind of clapper which allows to mark the rhythm by tapping the ground.
