Day 1: departing from the San Miguel pampas, count on a 3-hour descent to San Juan de Chuccho, then a 30-minute climb to Tapay.
Second day: leave in the morning, start with an hour's descent from Tapay to Malata via Cosñihua, then another 2-3 hours to the oasis. Note that Malata can also be reached by road, with one or two combis passing daily. If you want to continue to Cabanaconde, don't leave the oasis after 2 p.m. to avoid walking through the night.
