The vault of the nave, the brick dome, the walls covered with Sevillian azulejos, the gilded altar and the silver tabernacle make this church dating from 1673 one of the beauties of Cusco and one of the oldest still standing. In the nearby square, the eye is drawn to the police building, with its endless wooden balcony and Inca foundations, including a beautiful trapezoidal door framed by two twisted columns. It still belongs to the order of Discalced Carmelites and is adjoined by a closed monastery.
