ACUEDUCTO DE SAPANTIANA
The aqueducts, which have been restored to their former glory, are now a photo stop on the stroll up San Blas between Tandapata, with its street art, and Calle 7 Borreguitos, with its Mediterranean air in the heart of the Andes. Brides, grooms and 15-year-olds (a birthday that counts in Peru) come to pose in front of the stone arches and the staircase where a trickle of water runs. The waterworks date back to the Jesuit era, and were built between the 17th and 18th centuries. There are sometimes long queues to take photos, but you can also just have a look.
