For those who want to extend the experience, this organization offers very well thought out and managed homestays. Above Písaq, the community of Amaru is one of these agricultural villages that welcome you. Clean rooms (it's cold though) with outdoor bathrooms, excellent cuisine, walks, and lessons on medicinal plants and the art of weaving. You can spend a night or have lunch there. Longer treks are also organized like the one to Huchuy Qosco. Insist on contacting them or drop by the office.
