a 12-hour journey on a legendary train. This line was painstakingly designed in the second half of the 19th century. Over 335 km, the train crosses 58 bridges, 69 tunnels and 1,154 curves. At Ticlio, the highest point, you find yourself at an altitude of 4,818 m! It was the inspiration for Hergé's Tintin album, Temple of the Sun. Only "tourist class" tickets have access to the open-air bar car (ideal for photos). Service is expected to resume, but there's no certainty.
