Millions of years of erosion have created this photogenic attraction, which belongs to the Nor Yauyos Cochas landscape reserve (stretching from the Lima to the Junín sierra). Canyon Shutjo is located near the village of Canchayllo, 85 km from Huancayo and 40 km from Jauja. To visit it, you need to take an organized tour from Huancayo. It's a long day, but well worth the effort, with stone walls up to 60 metres high and a view overlooking the Piñascocha torrent, amid lush green terraces and archaeological remains.
