This modest church is the oldest building in Ayacucho. Rustic, it dates from 1540 and it is where the soldiers killed during the civil war that tore the society of the conquistadores apart, immediately after the conquest, were buried. From the architectural point of view, it is a simple construction made of quarry stones. It has a single nave, its sloping roof is made of a mixture of stone and adobe and it is flanked by a single tower of ashlar. Above the bell tower there is a dome on which stands a stone cross.
