TEMPLO DE SANTA TERESA
Its full name is Templo de Santa Teresa y Monasterio de las Carmelitas Descalzas. It is reached after crossing the old bridge. Built between 1663 and 1668, it is exceptional because it is entirely made of brick. The only nave has a plateresque choir carved in wood and decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays, and a pulpit with gold leaf. The monastery still retains its function from the viceregal period as the home of the cloistered nuns of the Carmelite order. The sugar fruits and sweets that are bought here are prepared by the nuns.
