MONT SAINT-MICHEL
The rock of Mont Saint-Michel, offering superb panoramic views of the surrounding villages.
At 437 meters above sea level, the rock of Mont Saint-Michel is less well known than its marine namesake, but just as attractive. It offers superb panoramic views of the surrounding villages. The site is thought to have been occupied as early as the 4th century B.C., and has remained so to this day. A pretty chapel, built in 1593 on an ancient pagan site dedicated to the cult of Mercury, bears numerous engravings alluding to the area's powerful telluric springs. A tour of the surrounding points of interest is also available.
