HEIDENSTADT
Heidenstadt or city of the pagans, Celtic oppidum with ditch, ramparts, menhir, rocks dug serving as receptacle for offerings
The Heidenstadt, "city of the pagans", is a Celtic oppidum. Two ramparts, a ditch and natural rocks mark the boundaries of the site. In the 2nd and 1st centuries B.C., these fortifications served as a defense and a trap for the enemies. You can also observe here a menhir, rocks dug, opferteller, serving as a receptacle for offerings of the Celtic period. Continuing on, you will find a medieval quarry, the ruins of the Daubenschlagfelsen castle and two very large rocks that appear to be in balance: Kanzel and Spitzfelsen.
