Formerly the headquarters of the Society of Peruvian Authors, this casona-labyrinth is wonderfully quiet. The garden at the back, with its avocado tree, banana trees, flowers and hummingbirds, is a haven of peace. Admittedly, the rooms are simple and the bedding a bit dated, but the whole place is clean and cheap, our best budget address. Renovated in 2014, it has more charm than the many inexpensive addresses in the center as much intended for business people as for couples in need of privacy. Central and well placed to discover the small town.
