Take the avenida de la Confraternidad Este up to the cemetery (where the tragic history of the Callejón de Huaylas can be read, engraved on the stone, between the earthquake of May 31, 1970, the accidents in which some Andinistas perished, and the massacre of APRA militants in 1931). We continue along el Pedregal for 2 km. At the bend in the road, there's a breathtaking view of the Cordillera and its eternally snow-capped volcanoes. For safety reasons, we strongly advise against night-time visits, or only in groups.
