It is a striking place to see how this small village was simply wiped out by the earthquake on 31 May 1970. Some 18,000 people died in just a few minutes. A few remnants remain: the carcass of a bus, palm tree trunks and stones from a church. A little further on, the cemetery is a place much frequented by the inhabitants who come to meditate or to admire the Christ who dominates the site by his size and his purity. A moving place full of history.
