The building, which took several decades to build, was completed in the mid-18th century. It was originally called Santa Catalina and is also known as Santa Catalina Cathedral. The white volcanic stone façade is a masterpiece of mixed baroque art, typical of the sierra, and is beautifully illuminated at night. The three-aisle interior, where the imposing gilded altar gleams, contrasts in its sobriety. It is only accessible at mass time. It is classified as Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

Sur la plaza des Armas cette église sans clocher mais avec une belle façade très ouvragée , mérite bien une visite au moment d'une messe.
