The Casa de la Emancipación now belongs to the BBVA Foundation, which has continued to maintain it and opens it to the public. It is a remarkable house with two patios, the second of which is abundantly decorated with flowers. The central hall bears witness to the wealth of the former owners, with an illuminated deed from 1537, signed by Carlos V, in other words, Charles V himself. It was here that the Marquis of Torre Tagle prepared the 1820 declaration of independence of Trujillo and it was also from here that President Riva Aguëro ruled.
