EN BATEAU
From/to Pucallpa (4 h 30 in Autos Maria car): Depending on the meaning of the current (longer between Iquitos and Pucallpa), travel lasts 4 to 5 days on board "Henry" vessels (+51 65 263948). The "lancha" means a ferry with a capacity of 250 people, almost every day of the port, at noon of Pucallpa and 18 h from Puerto Masusa of Iquitos (Av la Marina). Count S/100 for transportation and meals for the entire crossing. Warning, living conditions are spartan: you will sleep in a hammock on the pontoon. Some boats have cabins for two people in bunk beds (it is very hot, but you will have more privacy and less worry about your business): count S/150. To reserve a cabin does not prevent you from climbing its hammock on the deck to be at cost.
From/to Yurimaguas (2 h in Tarapoto S/20 cars the route): It takes 2 to 3 days in "lancha" on board boats "Eduardo, Gilmer, Bruno". Departures are supposed to be fixed on Wednesdays and Saturdays from noon of Puerto La Boca (+51 65 351270) from Yurimaguas and almost every day at 18 h from Iquitos but it is very random. Count S/100 in hammock and S/150 for a cabin of 2. If you're a hurry, a fast boat makes the connection in 12 h (onboard meals), S/130, Transportes Smart, 3 am in the morning. Forecast the additional transportation between Nauta and Iquitos, 1 h 30 by car, S/10. To be shorter the lancha passengers can also get down at Nauta. Lancha will put 10 to 12 hours more. Note, this route is also the point of access to Pacaya Samiria by entering the village of Lagunas.
To reach the borders of Brazil (Tabatinga) or Colombia (Leticia) or half way to Pevas: plan for a 2 to 3 days trip to S/60 in hammock and S/130 in the cabin of 2. Departure every day except Sundays. There are also faster boats: Golfinho agencies (+51 65 615085, Friday and Sunday) and Transtur (+51 65 221356, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) are on Av Raymondi (cuadra 3). They offer departures almost every day at 5 am. Count 10 hours of travel for S/200 (including meals). For customs formalities, go to the Immigration Office in Iquitos. Plan S/6 at the crossing of the Santa Rosa de Yavarí border crossing on the Rio.
