The jungle is celebrating its patron saint. An opportunity to raise the temperature a few more degrees.
On St. John's Day, water and its symbol of fertility are celebrated throughout the Amazon and its major cities. During the day people go to enjoy a juane (traditional rice and spice preparation) on the banks of rivers and streams, but the celebration continues especially in the evening. In Iquitos, Tarapoto, Pucallpa, it is an unmissable event that brings together locals and Limenians alike to warm up and have fun. They elect the Miss San Juan, drink a lot of beer and dance the cumbia around electronic bands.
