The "iron house" is located at the corner of Avenidas Próspero and Putumayo. Listed as a National Historic and Cultural Monument, it is, as its name suggests, built entirely of iron. Designed by Gustave Eiffel in 1887, it was first presented in Paris in 1889, before being sent to Iquitos in 1890. Spanish rubber magnate Anselmo del Aguila inherited it, although logistical problems prevented it from being transported to Madre de Dios, said to be its final destination.
