It is possible to get on cargo ships that go to Iquitos. Count S/ 100 for 4 days of crossing. Don't forget your hammock, your lunch box and your mosquito repellent. Be prepared to meet extraordinary people and to see beautiful landscapes. This will compensate for your lack of comfort and privacy... There are also spartan cabins, but safer. Be careful with the season: from mid-July to mid-October, the water is low and the trip is longer. The Yurimaguas-Iquitos route to the north is shorter.
