BOUILLON BRUXELLES
Like the bouillons in Paris, this one in Brussels offers simple, generous cuisine in a Belle Époque setting.
The Parisian tradition of the bouillon, a popular establishment offering meals at low prices, is also to be found in Brussels. The principle is the same: Belle Époque-Art Nouveau decor (that of the now defunct Scheltema, which has been preserved), a menu full of traditional Belgian dishes (filet américain, stoemp, moules, carbonnades) and other more obscure specialties like kibbelings or cervelas de cheval, all at a riquiqui price and with a service team in white shirts and black aprons. It's good, hearty, unpretentious and downright friendly.
