CHARLIER MUSEUM
The museum is more like a private home than a museum, with a fine collection of paintings, furniture, tapestries and silverware.
Henri Van Cutsem had his residence fitted out in 1890 by the young Victor Horta in order to exhibit his collections. On his death, he bequeathed it to the sculptor Guillaume Charlier who enriched it with contemporary Belgian works. On his death, Charlier handed it over to the municipality of Saint-Josse to turn it into a public museum. One can admire paintings and sculptures, furniture, tapestries and silverware from different periods. The whole ensemble is more reminiscent of a private residence than a traditional museum. Temporary thematic exhibitions, evening and lunchtime musical discoveries.
