Because of its size and its location in the upper part of the city, the Bois de la Cambre is a bit like Brussels' Central Park. Minus the skyscrapers.

The Bois de la Cambre is a woodland landscape park. It is the natural extension of the forêt de Soignes, and owes its name to the nearby abbey of la Cambre. With a surface area of 123 hectares, it is not only the largest but also the best-known green space in Brussels. Rather like New York's Central Park, it is located at the top of the city. Easily accessible, it appears at the end of Avenue Louise, a prestigious commercial and architectural avenue. In summer and winter alike, the Bois de la Cambre attracts walkers, joggers and families eager to give their little ones a breath of fresh air. At its center, a small island is home to the famous Chalet Robinson. Here, in a bucolic setting with contemporary renovations, you can dine on contemporary brasserie cuisine or enjoy a coffee, waffle or hot chocolate. Further afield, in the woods, is Le Flore, with its equally enchanting setting (splendid terrace, slow-food cuisine, local and organic produce...). Both offer numerous signposted walks of varying lengths and difficulty. The Bois de la Cambre is undoubtedly one of the finest green urban escapes we can offer to residents and visitors alike. Since confinement, the people of Brussels have rediscovered what the park can offer them. For some, it's an even more important breathing space than usual; for others, it's a space of protest. Autumn is the best season for a stroll.
