VISITE DU PARC D'AMBOSELI
Go there and contact
A remarkable park, with rich wildlife and a viewing hill offering a beautiful view, an easy safari site to explore.
Amboseli is a small park, so it is easy to visit, especially since the signage is remarkable. In the dry season, the tracks are excellent, but they become formidable during the rains and frequent mire. The only solution during this period is to fly in and stick to the few main tracks around the lodges.
Amboseli Park is a real treat forpachyderm lovers! They are everywhere: in small groups along the roads, by tens around the waterholes... enough to make a family album! With the snows of Kilimanjaro in the background, it is mythical.
When we arrive by Namanga Gate, we follow for several kilometers the northern bank of the lake of Amboseli. Of lake, it has only the name because it is currently a vast salted basin which fills with water a few days per year. In the dry season, a track cuts through it, but it is dangerous to go there because a sticky mud hides under the salt crust. After passing the lake, you enter the heart of the park.
In the southern part, Observation Hill is not to be missed under any circumstances. It is ideal to plan a picnic on the spot to observe intensely the beauty of the landscape, and to take invigorating breaths facing Kilimanjaro. It is an observation hill that offers a beautiful view of the entire park and the swamps below. To reach the top, park your vehicle at the bottom and walk up, being careful of the animals that sometimes frequent the area. The hill overlooks the Enkongo Narok (black and benevolent in Maasai) swamp, the largest and most beautiful of Amboseli. It is a great place to take beautiful pictures.
Further east, towards Kimana Gate, is the Olokenya swamp, where all the fauna of the park meets in the middle of papyrus and reeds. Like everywhere, but even more so in Amboseli, the best time to visit the park is early morning or late afternoon. In the middle of the day, the heat is such that animals and tourists are lazing around, some in their ponds, others by their pools. The advantage: it is absolutely quiet. In the evening, don't miss the sunset. The dark silhouettes of the acacia trees stand out against an orange sky and, in the distance, the snowy summit of Kilimanjaro is adorned with pink reflections. It's a beautiful sight!
