VISIT TO TSAVO PARK EAST
Visit to a park with beautiful scenery and various animals, various interesting tours to explore.
From Voi Gate, the most popular circuit is the one that leads to Lake Aruba (a water reservoir for animals in case of drought) along the small Voi River, which is a river in name only, as it only has water for a few weeks a year. The trails are good, winding through dense vegetation. If you continue straight on or head south towards Buchuma Gate, you soon find yourself in the middle of a semi-desert region where you can sometimes see large herds of elephants.
Heading further north, you reach Manyani Gate. The track on your right follows the Galana River to Sala Gate. This superb itinerary allows you to admire the dense and varied vegetation along the banks, populated by dozens of bird species. At the halfway point, Luggard Falls are actually green-tinged rapids that flow down a narrow fault before cascading down below. In dry periods (i.e. most of the year), the rapids turn into a trickle of water. But whatever the season, the crocodiles are always there. On the other side of the river lies the immense Yatta Plateau, considered to be one of the world's largest lava flows (over 300 km).
Mudanda rock is one of the stops on a tour of Tsavo East. This huge, isolated granite rock resembles, but is much smaller than, Australia's famous Ayer's Rock.
