A picturesque and peaceful place located in the north of Mombasa which offers a beautiful view on the whole Kilifi creek
It is the remains of an ancient Swahili city dating from the 14th century, including the remains of two mosques. The site, located 60 km north of Mombasa, is less interesting than those of Gedi or Jumba la Mtwapa (Malindi), but it offers a beautiful view of the whole Kilifi creek. It is reached by turning left just before the bridge (well indicated). It is not a very impressive archaeological site, but a very picturesque and peaceful place that deserves a visit. Some people even come here for a picnic.
