IBIZA CATHEDRAL
Cathedral of baroque style at the top of the Dalt Vila, dedicated to the Virgin Mary and to Our Lady of the Snows, patroness of Ibiza
Built shortly after the Catalan reconquest, from the 13th century onwards, the Catedral de Ibiza, dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Our Lady of the Snows, patron saint of Ibiza, occupies the site of an ancient Arab mosque named Yebisah. The apse and bell tower, in Catalan Gothic style, date from the 14th century, while the interior was completely remodelled in Baroque style in the 18th century. Of sober and robust design (it is the most imposing sacred building on the island), it occupies the top of the Dalt Vila, alongside the castle. Its location alone is worth a visit.
