Cave at the top of a mountain near the cove of Sant Vicenç, with a Punic sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Tanit
The Cova d'Es Culleram is a cave dated between 425 and 125 B.C. It contains the Punic sanctuary (remember that Ibiza was occupied by the Carthaginians between the5th and 2nd centuries B.C.) dedicated to the goddess Tanit (a Carthaginian deity linked to fertility and fortune, the guardian of Ibiza) and is located almost on top of a mountain covered with fir treesC.) dedicated to the goddess Tanit (a Carthaginian deity linked to fertility and fortune, and the guardian of Ibiza) and is located almost on top of a mountain covered with fir trees, very close to the Sant Vicent cove, 150 metres above sea level. A bust of the goddess Tanit was discovered there in 1907 (and is now in the Ibiza Museum).
