CHAPEL SA TANCA VELLA
This tiny Romanesque chapel located in the heart of Sant Francesc, was declared a monument of cultural interest in 1993
In the heart of Sant Francesc, this tiny Romanesque chapel is the first Christian sanctuary to be built on the island. Founded in 1336, it has a rectangular structure with a barrel vault and no ornamentation. The chapel, which had become too small to accommodate the faithful, was abandoned in the 18th century in favour of the church. Annexed to a house that gave it its name, Sa Tanca Vella, the tiny building was bought by the town in 1986. Restored, the chapel was declared a monument of cultural interest in 1993.
