BANYS ÀRABS
Arab baths to the east of the cathedral, the last vestige of Muslim rule in the Balearic Islands
A 10th century Arab bath hidden in a maze of alleys, east of the cathedral, in what was the Medina Majurka district. It is one of the last vestiges of the period of Muslim domination in the Balearic Islands. There are two rooms to visit, the most important of which is undoubtedly the square-shaped hall, topped by a dome supported by 12 columns with irregularly shaped capitals - obviously borrowed from Roman constructions - and pierced by openings used to ventilate the hall. Charming, but not unmissable.
