PASSEIG DEL BORN
Major axis of Palma with an exhibition hall offering an animated walk
One of Palma's main roads, lined with plane trees and beautiful old houses. It was designed by the architect Isidro González Velázquez in the early 19th century. Until the beginning of the 17th century, a stream ran along this axis and down to the sea. It was diverted due to numerous floods. Later on, jousting tournaments were held here, which gave it its name, the Borne. Today it is a lively promenade, lined with shops. On the passeig, the Casal Solleric, an 18th century Majorcan palace and exhibition hall, is worth a visit.
