LA GRANJA
Old farmhouse with a garden with fountains and waterfalls of natural springs
La Granja, a former 18th-century manor house, was home to monks of the Cistercian order for two centuries and then passed into the hands of noble families from Mallorca: Vida, Fortuny and then Seguí (the current owners). The visit, which takes the form of a 64-step tour through the 2,000 square metres of an ethnological museum, allows visitors to discover all the trades associated with the activities of a farm: a dye house, a small jam kitchen, an oil mill... and a collection of torture instruments! The house is huge and breathes history: each room is a pleasure for the eyes and a real journey through time. In the garden, fountains and waterfalls bear witness to the past of this unique place full of natural springs where 11 water mills once stood, two of which are still in operation today. There is also a wide variety of flowers and trees, as well as many birds and farm animals. On your way out, be sure to try the local sweet wine, homemade jams (pumpkin, orange, fig and apricot), delicious buñuelos (potato fritters), sobressada or sausage cakes, and the famous fig and almond bread seasoned with anise and other local herbs. It is possible to do some shopping in the shop located in the cafeteria. It is also possible to lounge in the hammocks, an ideal activity during the hot weather. A visit not to be missed by families!
