NOSTRA SENYORA DEL CARME CHURCH
Visit this 18th century church with its discreet ornamentation and surprisingly bright and clear interior
This 18th century church is unique for its discreet ornamentation. The interior is surprisingly bright and luminous. The church's elegant cloister, which once belonged to a Carmelite convent, now houses the city's unmissable market. The origins of this church were, however, stormy: its construction began in 1726 in an atmosphere of conflict between the Carmelite and Franciscan orders, the latter opposing the installation of the former on the island.
