Son Tretze is a beautiful establishment oriented to rural tourism located in a very pleasant environment, just outside the village of Sant Lluís. It is an old house of 600 square meters, completely renovated, with a total of eight rooms with a rustic-chic decoration (double room, superior double room and room with private terrace), all of them with wi-fi and air conditioning. Son Tretze's lovely gardens have a swimming pool and the beaches are a five-minute drive away. Adult-only.

Zorionak!
It was 5 - 10 mins walk from restaurants, bars, shops and places of interest in St. Lluis and my friend's house who has lived in this location for the last 24 years with her children - no room for guests in her small, but beautiful town house.
The set up at Son Tretze was perfect for my needs. Bed and breakfast only with a choice of 7 set breakfasts daily featuring traditional Menorcan food. If special dietary considerations were required (gluten and nut free), these could be accommodated if the management were notified in advance.
Breakfast was served on the covered terrace outside by Lucia, who took your breakfast order. Her English was excellent and the best of the people who worked there. In fact, she sometimes translated what I needed for Amadeo to be sure my message was conveyed correctly.
The outdoor terrace was close to the lovely pool area where I spent many an afternoon, for an hour or two when not exploring local villages and beaches. Again, this peaceful period of time was uninterrupted by children in the adult, only hotel and had both a shady and unshaded area with sun loungers. Guests could also borrow ice boxes and parasols for visits to a beach, if required.
I booked a room with a large terrace on the first floor, which had a lovely view overlooking other buildings in the area as well as vegetation specific to the island. It had a table and 2 chairs, so my friend and I sometimes sat there in the evenings sipping wine and playing Backgammon.
Inside the room, there was a king-size bed, which I personally found too hard, but when I asked other guests what they thought, they loved it! However, la piece de resistance for me was the air conditioning unit, which was a godsend in what turned out to be a very hot and humid week in Menorca.
There was also an ensuite bathroom with a shower and basic toiletries free of charge. The shower had fantastic water pressure, which I really value. It also had a small to medium sized fridge and an in-room safe for your valuables. There was plenty of wardrobe space and a tall boy chest of drawers, a table with a large TV, a chair and bedside tables too. Overall, the rooms were fit for their purpose and a good size. They were also kept clean by the lovely Nerea, who cleaned to perfection.
There was a mixture of clientèle, Spanish and British during my stay with all guests friendly and keen to explore the island. The owner Katerina was on hand to recommend places, restaurants and activities in the mornings at breakfast time as was Amadeo who was in charge of all the bookings and the day-to-day hotel guest needs to include equipment for the beach, any queries about the room and facilities; directing guests to a fridge stacked with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee making facilities where honesty was key for consumption. I did not take advantage of these as I often hung out at my friend's house/ate out or went to the local supermarket for bits and bobs.
Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and will definitely return to the same place because of the convenience of the location, the facilities to include great wi-fi accessible both inside and outside, the friendly and efficient staff and because it is an adult only hotel. That being said, I did feel the room prices were a little steep, but I guess this is to be expected in Europe during peak season. I think having been an ex expat of Dubai, I have been spoilt with cheaper prices in 5 star luxury hotels for too long. Hmm, I wonder if they give any discounts for repeat customers??
Anyway, thank you Amadeo, Katerina, Lucia and Nerea for such a lovely stay, I will be back.
Los desayunos al lado de la piscina y a la sombra eran la mejor forma de empezar el día.
Si volvemos a la isla repetimos.
