TOWER OF ALCAUFAR
This tower located at the tip of Cala d'Alcalfar was built by the Spaniards to defend the island from external attacks
Located at the tip of Cala d'Alcalfar, this tower was built to defend the island from Algerian pirate raids. It has suffered extensive damage and had to be restored a few years ago. Conical in shape, it has three levels (identifiable from the outside by the projections), the first floor of which was used as a gunpowder magazine and was also equipped with a cistern. A spiral staircase built into the wall connects the upper floor to the terrace. The interior of the tower is not accessible to visitors.
